About Columbines School of Botanical StudiesThe Columbines School of Botanical Studies offers a unique educational program ranging from entry level lectures in community herbalism to a three-year program including botany, ecology, wildcrafting, plant pharmacy, physiology, pathophysiology, and clinical herbalism. Operating for over three decades, we specialize in field programs where the majority of the classes are outside with the plants for a truly 'hands on' experience. About Columbines Distance Learning ProgramWe created the Columbines Distance Learning Program so that anyone anywhere can learn the skills we teach. Our outdoor programs are limited to small groups, and require a certain amount of physical mobility. Our lecture series are also limited in size and held in Eugene, Oregon. With high speed internet we are able to bring our unique knowledge and entertaining teaching style to students worldwide.
Our instructors see teaching as performance art and use the oral tradition of repetition to aid in long-term memory retention. We have done our best to translate this into an exciting video format with original music written by Mikah Sykes, dream sequences, and off-beat humor.
Our vision for this site includes a full two year program focused on community and clinical herbalism, botany, physiology, and plant pharmacy. Full courses with tests, instructors, and certificates of completion would be available in modular form. We will also offer the ability to audit these courses for a discounted rate. Short courses and single lessons will be available for those looking for knowledge in specific topics. Newsletters on varying subjects will provide weekly video, audio, and written material to keep the site fresh.
